Program Description
As a part of the Career Development Department, Free to Save aims to assist individuals and families wanting to save money in order to purchase a home, small business start-up or expansion, or post-secondary education. In conjunction with Financial Literacy Training, clients receive asset specific training to further asist clients in the purchase of their assets.
Lincoln Action Program partners with U.S. Bank to provide Individual Development Accounts in which Free to Save participants make monthly deposits toward their savings goal. Once they meet their goal, Lincoln Action Program matches their contribution 2 to 1, up to a participant's contribution of $2,000. This gives the participant a maximum contribution of $4,000 from Lincoln Action Program toward the purchase of their asset.
Lincoln Action Program partners with NeighborWorks Lincoln to provide clents with homebyer education, and EducatioQuest to provide assistance in post-secondary education.
Openings for the Free to Save Program are limited, and participants must meet government-enforced regulations in order to qualify. Contact Travis Pillen for more information, or stop by Lincoln Action Program for applications.
