Program Description  

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, or VITA, is a program developed and sponsored by the IRS which offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income individuals who need assistance preparing their tax returns. 

Lincoln Action Program is one of several agencies in Lincoln that organizes and trains volunteers to prepare tax returns.  From January hrough April, those volunteers serve clients by giving them individual attention, gathering the necessary information, and preparing an honest and timely tax return.
