Improving Quality of Life

Adequate and affordable housing, enough food to eat and clothes to wear, health care, a safe and nurturing environment to raise children—these are thing that no family, regardless of where they live or how much money they earn each year, should have to do without.

However, many local families do struggle to meet these most basic needs. Without essentials like food, a safe place to live, and rudimentary health, it is difficult to plan and take action for a better future. Assistance with basic needs may be a needed step toward future improvements. Lincoln Action Program provides basic needs assistance as one step toward making individual family goals possible. We work with families to identify interim steps toward their goals, and then we offer support and resources to help them make significant progress.

For example, homeless families often participate in budgeting and household maintenance skills development along with housing assistance. Families with young children discover opportunities to increase school readiness while addressing their children’s health issues.

We understand that there will be bumps on the road to progress toward family goals, and we’re here to help during those times. If a family needs emergency assistance, we provide not only what is necessary to help them work through immediate crisis, but more importantly, the knowledge and tools necessary to keep from needing that help again.

LAP provides resources for many basic needs, including food and clothing, housing stability, utility efficiency, health care, and parenting. We work to get and keep families on the track to meeting their goals to improve their well-being. We are dedicated to creating real and lasting change in the lives of those we help.
